Camp 2008
We would like to thank everyone who made this years youth camp outreach possible. The young people worked hard to pass the school year, the criteria set by the church, in order to have an opportunity to go to camp. They praise the Lord that He provided for them.
I am very impressed by the Bible teaching they received while at camp. They discussed family problems and how God can use them, from the Life of Joseph. Other messages and small group topics included Transformed by Grace, Dating in Threes (a couple and the Lord), Courage to Overcome, The Christ Filled Life, and Selling Your Birthright.
It is wonderful for these young people to get out of their violent communities and have a safe place to go and just be kids. It is also great for them to be able to interact with middle class kids, so that they can see that there is a different kind of life than they see on a daily basis. Lord willing they made an impact on the other kids as well. People from the slums are social outcast in Brazil and hopefully the other kids at camp have seen that they are not much different.
Below is an excerpt from a testimony written by one of the girls who went to camp.
"On the second day, during the evening service, the pastor asked those who wanted to repent of their sins and ask God for forgiveness to stand up. I stood and prayed that He would forgive me...after this service I felt purified, with a clean conscience. Praise be to God."
Praise the Lord.
