A Praying Church
March 18, 2008
We just returned from the midweek service at Igreja Batista Missionaria. The service was a blessing to be a part of. Today we visited the land that the church purchased recently. The story of how the Lord provided the money is amazing. All of it came from Brazil.
Tonight as we were at the service Pastor Claudio took prayer requests. I was amazed that in this poor community almost all of the requests were for others, and mostly for salvation of friends and family. No one was asking for prayer for things. After all the requests were given Pastor Claudio asked men to pair up with men and women with women and pray. All over the small sanctuary people began to get on their knees on the hard concrete floor and call upon the Lord. As I was praying with two elderly gentleman my knees began to ache terribly, but they continued to call upon the Lord. It was then I realized this is why a small church in a poor community owns a piece of land for a building. I was humbled by their heart for prayer and the insufficient prayer life I have.
I wish you all could have been there. God bless.
