Feeding Ministry - Igreja Batista Viva
March 18, 2008
Yesterday was a very good day on the trip. In the morning we divided items that team members brought like school supplies, shoes, and clothing. After lunch we visited the grocery store and purchased extra food for the food kits and food for the meals we will serve this week at Igreja Batista Viva. Then we took a brief tour of Vila Nova, our van driver actually lives down the road from the church.
Once we got to the church we assembled the food kits and setup for the meals. Several ladies from the church assisted the women from our team with preparing the sausage and rice, salad, and bread. At 7:00 P.M. we had the Living Bread service. This is an extra monthly service to distribute the food kits. During the service the small children did an Easter egg hunt set up by the team. Prior to the distribution, the Gospel was preached and six people came forward to accept Christ. Praise the Lord! After the service we fed everyone. There were about 100 adults and children.
Today we spent the afternoon at Igreja Batista Missionaria doing children's ministry with 60 children. Dr. Phillips, Teresa, and Roxanne took the lead with the rest of us helping as needed. We did some songs and helped with their Scripture memorization. Dr. Phillips taught a great lesson on trusting in the Lord when we are afraid. The children really enjoyed it. After the Bible study we fed each child and sent them home with an Easter treat. We also visited the property the church just bought and prayed for a building. Tonight we will participate in their midweek service, Pastor Suitt will be preaching. Please pray for him and these services.
Due to the increased cost of food we are seeking US $100.00 in monthly support for the feeding ministry at Igreja Batista Viva. We don't want to have to reduce the amount of food or the number of recipients. Please pray about this.
I will be posting pictures from yesterday and tonight later this evening so please keep checking photos.living-bread.org. Thank you for your continued prayers. God bless.

We continue to pray for you and rejoice at those who gave their hearts to Christ. Today, in our family devotions, we read John 13 and Jesus washing his disciples' feet, and then talked about how the LB team was doing what Jesus taught by feeding those who are poor. And of course we prayed for you. We look forward to the next entry.
