Vila Nova

March 19, 2008

We spent the day in the community of Vila Nova.  This is the neighborhood Igreja Batista Viva is in.  We walked through the slum and visited homes of church members and some of the people who receive a food kit.  We visited one home with a young mother of 5 or 6 children.  Her boyfriend has AIDS and is abusive.  Her mother is a member of the church and has been witnessing to her.  This family also receives food via the feeding ministry.  While we were at her house she asked for prayer for a job.  Pastor Suitt shared Christ with her while the group prayed quietly.  She accepted Christ and Pastor Magioli will be following up with her.

Later we had the midweek service and fed everyone who attended.  We had an opportunity to fellowship with them.  The church provided each of us with a small gift and it was a tremendous blessing.  After dinner Pastor Suitt shared the Gospel with our van driver and he accepted Christ as well.  As an extra praise his family lives a block from the church and Pastor Magioli will be following up with him as well.  When Pastor Suitt asked him about Christ he said he had always know he needed to ask Christ to save him, but he didn't know when would be the right time.  Praise the Lord tonight was.

I will post pictures from today on photos.living-bread.org
