Tuesday children's ministry with Igeja Batista Missionaria
On Tuesday, we spent the afternoon serving alongside Igreja Batista Missionaria's weekly ministry to children in the community of Vila Cefer. Around 60 kids came to a youth center across from the church facility for games, songs, bible quizzes (one boy received a prize for memorizing Exod. 1:1-20!), followed by a small lunch. It was obvious that most of the children came from very poor families so it was great to minister to them in Jesus' name. I was particularly impressed by Marley (pastor Claudio's wife) and some ladies at the church who ran the games and prepared sandwiches afterward. While we served with them for a day, these bold servants of Christ regularly minister to children in this community affected by drug abuse, gang activity, and Macumba (spiritism) rituals.
