Trip to Paraguay

June 26, 2008

We arrived in Paraguay yesterday afternoon.  What an exciting adventure we are on.  As we follow the Lord he has brought us to the place to expand the vision of LBM into this country.  How exciting it is to go to a new place where we don't really know anyone and see the Lord open doors and build partnerships that will result in the planting of new churches focused on the poor of this wonderful country.  It is an awesome experience to live life surrendered to the call of God.  I could never have dreamed of such an exciting life for myself.

We are very grateful to SIM for allowing us to stay in their guest house and for all the help they have given us thus far.  They have put us in contact with the "escribano" (like a court clerk) who we are meeting with this evening to find out what is needed for LBM to be legally established to work in Paraguay.

Over the next few days we will be meeting with missionaries from Christian Missionary Alliance, Assembly of God, ABWE, Word of Life, and some national Pastors.  Also, we are trying to get a meeting with a Pastor who is on the Baptist Convention's committee responsible for national missions.  Please pray that this would work out.

As we walk through the city it has been confirmed in my heart that this is a place the Lord would have us working.  Each meeting we have confirms the same.  Please pray for churches and people to partner with us to make LBM in Paraguay a reality.

The need is great for church planting and for helping the poor.  Even today as we walked from the grocery store we saw a woman, with two small children in a cart, going through the garbage for food.  On the next block we saw a 12 y/o girl doing the same.  Our hearts broke for them.  We have been told that in Paraguay over 40% of the population lives below poverty levels.

We will continue to pray for the Lord to open doors in Paraquay and the rest of South America. Lord willing we may take a mission trip to Paraquay sometime soon! Mervil and I continue to pray for direction on how the Lord will use us in the future. However the Lord decides to use us I'm sure it will be a blessing to us and hopefully to those He sends us to. Meanwhile we continue to pray for Living-Bread ministries and for Patrick and Family.
