Urgent Prayer Need

June 28, 2008

We got news today that Barbara's Dad (Enio) was admitted to the hospital.  He is in the ICU.  Barbara's mom said it does not look good, but she is very upset so we don't really know how serious his condition is.  Please pray for him and the family.  He is not a believer and neither are Barbara's siblings.  We are working to get our flights changed so we can leave Paraguay a day early.  Especially, since Barbara's parents were taking care of the kids for us.  We have been able to do everything we need to do, but will be missing some opportunities to minister and learn more about the people here.

This morning we met with the national Pastor who oversees Evangelism and Missions for the Paraguayan Baptist Convention.  He is very excited about our vision and has offered to help in anyway he can.  The Lord has really been blessing and bringing together many people to join us in carrying out the vision of LBM here in Paraguay.  We give Him all the praise!

This area of Asunción is along the river in the flood plain.
Many of the poor live here.  Their homes flood regularly.

This afternoon we met with another national Pastor and went to visit the church and school he and his wife planted 14 years ago.  The Juan (John) Wesley school has over 200 students most from a very poor community.  We walked through part of the community which the government has classified as a red zone, meaning it is very dangerous.  This Pastor has offered to help in anyway he can.  Yet another blessing from the Lord.

If we can get our flights changed we will leave here at 5:00 A.M. (EST) Sunday and arrive in Porto Alegre around 1:00 P.M. (EST) the same day.  Please pray for our travels and for the expense of changing our tickets.
