Community Outreach in Vila Nova
October 17, 2008
Recently, the body of Christ at Igreja Batista Viva invited the community to visit the church for a day of food, fun, and games. This was an outreach to the entire community, not just the desperately poor. The members sold tickets for lunch and all the proceeds went to support missions. Once everyone was gathered and ready to eat, a couple of believers shared their personal testimonies.

After lunch some of the church members dressed as clowns and shared the Gospel with young and old alike. Later there were games and even a thrift store for people to get needed clothing. Donations were accepted for the clothing with all the proceeds going to support missions. Here is a great example of how a church consisting of predominately very poor people is reaching out and trying to minister to needs in their community. As God has given to them they seek to give to others. Not out of a sense of guilt, but understanding God's grace and wanting to show it to the world.
