Fifteenth Birthday Party

On October 25th Igreja Batista Viva celebrated the 15th birthday party of 3 of their, very involved, youth. It took months of preparation. Everything was donated, from the material for the dresses to the food and decorations. Pastor Magioli’s daughter, Wanessa, dedicated herself to make sure this important date for a Brazilian girl was celebrated with all the traditions. She enlisted the help of her friends, with decorations, cooking, and even to serve as waiters at the party.

The “Quinze Anos” party is a very big deal in Brazilian culture. Turning 15 represents a stepping stone in a young girl’s life. It is time for dreams, plans for the future, and hope of a better tomorrow. It’s also the time when a young girl is presented to society; the party marks the transition from girl to woman. It’s a special birthday, therefore worthy of a special celebration.
Of course, for the very needy families that are members of the church none of this is normally possible. However, the church decided to provide these young ladies with a wonderful blessing. Not only did the church provide the party, but they used it as an outreach event. Over 150 friends and family attended the party. Most of these were lost. Pastor Magioli took the opportunity to give a clear and concise Gospel presentation. For Angélica, Bruna, and Gabriela, it was a dream come true.
