Urgent Need

It's after 2:00 A.M. and I am working on the blog because I can't sleep. I wanted to share a need in my post yesterday, but I had to wait until I had the details. The property that Igreja Batista Viva has been meeting at for the past few years has been put for sale. The desperately poor people that make up the congregation have been saving for some time in hopes of buying the building, but alone they have no chance of doing so. Churches in Brazil have joined them and together have either already given or committed to give most of the money. However, they are still $15,000 short of the required funds. This is a church of extremely needy people, yet their tithes and offerings are currently meeting all the expenses except building rent and the feeding ministry. By helping them purchase this building they will essentially become self-sufficient with the exception of the feeding ministry provided by LBM.

The property they are using is ideal for their needs. It is in a close proximity to the very poor which is important since they must walk to church. It also has 3 buildings on site. The sanctuary which seats over 130 people and children and youth buildings. They have invested their own sweat and tears in the property converting what was an auto shop into the current sanctuary.

What has kept me up tonight is the lack of available buildings. If the church looses this site there are no other places to rent or buy in the vicinity. They will be forced to move much further from the desperately poor and in essence abandon the community they have worked so hard to reach with the Gospel.
I know the economy is very scary right now, but the Lord still answers prayer. I am asking you to commit this need to prayer and if you know someone who will pray please share the need with them.
