Brazil Trip Update
We arrived in Porto Alegre during the early morning hours on Friday. We had a delay in Sao Paulo which caused us to arrive about 2 hours late. After resting up from the trip and getting settled we went to church at Igreja Batista Viva last night where I was able to preach. It was good to see the regulars but I was more excited to see the new faces. It was especially nice to see the four new believers awaiting baptism.
I was very encouraged that one of them is Jaquliene, a woman who I recognized from the feeding ministry. The church has been providing food for her family for over two years. The last time I was here I remember seeing her and her children on the back row, seemingly not paying attention, and thinking that she would probably be that way forever. There will always be those who come just for the food and that is fine with me, lost people need to eat too. However, several weeks ago this dead woman's eyes were opened and she finally repented of her sin and turned to Christ. What a wonderful display of the grace of God.
Jaquliene recieving her monthly food kit almost 2 years ago.
The Lord continued to bless and through the preaching of His word He drew a husband and wife to Himself. This couple both have drug problems, but have been attending the church regularly. We rejoice that like the Tax Collector in Luke 18 they saw themselves as sinners and cried out to God for mercy. We rejoice in their salvation and we pray for God's grace to free them from the bondage of drug addiction.
