We are beginning two new churches!

I just finished wrapping up meetings with two new church planters. I am excited to say that LBM is immediately beginning two new church plants in very poor communities in greater Porto Alegre, Brazil. The church plant in Bom Jesus is a partnership with an existing church planter and all of the resources invested by LBM will go to fund the church plant. The church plant in Vila Safira is a completely independent work funded entirely by LBM. This means we are investing in the church plant and also supporting the church planter.
Vila Safira is considered the most dangerous neighborhood in Porto Alegre. It has the highest crime rate and the highest percentage of assaults and robberies. Drugs are rampant in this community of about 40,000 people. The Pastor is immediately beginning visitations and building relationships there.
Bom Jesus is a needy community as well. We are beginning to work here immediately. There is an extremely poor public school in the neighborhood and we are praying that we will be able to use it as the base for our work. It looks like an awful place but Lord willing it will become the meeting place of our church plant and we will be able to build a relationship in the community through the school and it's leadership.

Both of these new churches will continue our vision of ministering tothe community both spiritually and physically. They will boldly preach the Gospel and minister to basic needs of the residents. As at our other church plants the feeding ministry will be an important part of our strategy.
We are beginning these works by faith. We do not currently have the resources. However, we trust the Lord to provide for Vila Safira and Bom Jesus to have a Gospel preaching local church that is ministering to their needs. The cost to plant both of these churches and reach the desperately poor in these communities is $1000 per month. We need individuals, families, and churches to partner with us to build these churches into self-sufficient autonomous local churches.
