Five Years of Feeding Hungry Souls!
March 25, 2008
A little over five years ago Barbara and I began a journey in obedience to the Lord's call on our lives. In faith, with no existing supporters, we began to build Living Bread Ministries (LBM). Today we celebrate the 5th anniversary of the establishment of LBM. We have seen the Lord do great and wonderful things in that time.
In all honesty the road has been far more difficult than we ever imagined it would be. In the beginning we were very naive. However, the Lord has been with us for every step of this journey. He has encouraged us, and provided for us in every possible way. When we need faith He gives it. When we need to persevere He gives perseverance. He has met every need and therefore deserves all the glory, honor, and praise.
We have had the privilege of seeing the Lord take the vision He entrusted to us and grow it into a healthy, growing ministry. We have had the honor of witnessing the Lord open doors that we did not even know to knock on. We have seen Him accomplish what only He could and we have been blessed to be a part of it.
In 5 years we have seen 3 churches planted among the poor of the least evangelized major city in Brazil. Even this month we have been given the opportunity to begin 2 additional churches and a 3rd this summer. This will bring our total to 6 church plants among the desperately poor in a city with only a 0.3% evangelical population. This is very exciting to me, but even more so when you consider the thousands of food kits distributed, the medicine, warm clothing, school supplies, and many other needs these churches have addressed in their communities.
I am grateful to play a small role in God's global plan of redemption. I am extremely grateful for each ministry partner that has prayed for us and given financially to make this work a reality. I pray that the next 5 years will be more profitable for the kingdom than we can even imagine. Praise the Lord for His goodness and His grace.
