Soup Ministry in Vila Safira
July 20, 2009
A few weeks ago I shared a vision that Pastor Jocelito had presented to me about beginning a soup ministry through our church plant in Vila Safira. He wanted to address the severe hunger in his community and open doors to share the Gospel in both word and deed. Thanks to a generous family who provided the start up funds; we were able to begin this ministry. Every Saturday the church will be serving hot soup after the weekly Bible study. This is a special blessing for the hungry people especially during the cold winter.

Fellowship Meal in Vila Safira - Served After Weekly Bible Study
This past Saturday we had so many people for the first service that some had to eat outside while others took the soup home to eat. The little chapel we are meeting in was overflowing with people. Pastor Jocelito led them in a worship service and taught them about the Living Bread, Christ Jesus. It was a blessed time. The young church has a few bugs to work out but they are making an impact in this community. The Scripture says that the Lord will reward those who give even a cup of cold water to one of His disciples. I am sure that the Lord Jesus will bless this young church as it serves hot soup to the hungry in Vila Safira, believers and non-believers alike.
